Updated: May 5

Sun-kissed shores, captivating history, and vibrant charm – Split, Croatia, offers a whirlwind escape in just three days. From exploring ancient Roman ruins to diving into turquoise waters, this itinerary lets you savor the best of Split:

Split, Split Old Town, World Unesco Heritage

Day 1: Immerse in History's Embrace

Split, Diocletian Palace
Diocletian's Palace

Your journey begins at Diocletian's Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the heart of Split. Wander through its labyrinthine streets, past arcaded courtyards and shops housed within ancient walls.

Climb the bell tower of St. Domnius Cathedral for panoramic vistas, and don't miss the Peristil, the grand central square bustling with life. As evening paints the sky, stroll along the Riva Promenade, the palm-lined waterfront buzzing with locals and cafes. Indulge in "peka," a traditional slow-roasted dish under an iron bell, savoring the flavors of Dalmatia.

Day 2: Island Hopping & Nature's Majesty

Catch a ferry to Brač, the largest Dalmatian island. Bask on Zlatni Rat, a unique, horn-shaped beach with crystal-clear waters. Hike through fragrant pine forests, or explore the historic village of Bol.

Alternatively, sail to Hvar, known for its lavender fields, charming harbor, and vibrant nightlife. In the evening, return to Split for a seafood feast at a harborside restaurant, accompanied by soulful "klapa" singing.

Day 3: Adventure & Cultural Delights

Lace up your shoes and hike Marjan Hill, the city's green lung. Breathe in the fresh air as you admire breathtaking views of Split and the surrounding islands. Discover hidden coves and secluded beaches along the way. Immerse yourself in art at the Meštrović Gallery, showcasing the works of Croatia's renowned sculptor. As the sun sets, take a sunset cruise along Split's coastline, capturing the magical play of light on the water.

Where to stay:

I had an amazing relaxing stay at Luxufy Rooms Lucija & Luka. They are located in the heart of Split's Old Town, on the main square and next to the Iron Gates of the UNESCO-protected Diocletian's Palace.

This property is so close to everything that you might want to see and do in Split and from a short walking distance to the port to hop on the ferry to your next island adventure.
